Getting started
The basics of buying and selling domains on the platform.
What is Percent Match Auction?
Percent Match Auction is a domain marketplace where every transaction is processed through Escrow.com and is fully compatible with transfers via Percent-Match.com. Buyers and sellers are protected end-to-end.
Do I need an account to browse auctions?
Browsing is open to everyone. You only need to register when you place a bid, list a domain, or initiate an escrow transaction.
What kinds of domains can be auctioned?
Any domain you legitimately own and have the right to transfer. Listings must comply with ICANN policy and our marketplace rules.
Escrow & payments
How money moves — and stays safe — between buyer and seller.
Why is Escrow.com used for every transaction?
Escrow.com holds the buyer’s funds until the domain transfer is verified and accepted. Neither side has to trust the other — the platform does the verification.
When is the seller paid?
Funds are released to the seller after the buyer confirms receipt of the domain at the new registrar, or after the inspection period closes without dispute.
Can I pay outside of Escrow.com?
Never. Any request to pay outside Escrow.com is a policy violation and almost always a scam. Report it to support immediately.
Fees
What it costs to buy and sell, and who pays for what.
Who pays the escrow fee?
By default the escrow fee is paid by the seller, The exact breakdown is shown at https://www.escrow.com/fee-calculator (varies with sales price) Escrow fee amounts can be determined before listing sales price on auction platform.
Are there listing fees?
Listing a domain is free. Fees apply only when an auction closes successfully and the transaction enters escrow.
Are there currency conversion costs?
Escrow.com may apply standard currency conversion fees if buyer and seller use different currencies. These are disclosed during checkout.
Transfers
Moving the domain from seller’s registrar to buyer’s account.
How long does a domain transfer take?
Most transfers complete within 5–7 days once escrow is funded. Push transfers within the same registrar can complete in hours.
What if the domain is locked?
The seller must unlock the domain at their registrar and provide an authorization (EPP) code before the transfer can begin.
What if the transfer is delayed?
Check that all approvals are in place at both registrars. If the delay persists, contact support and we will coordinate with Escrow.com.
Bidding & auctions
How auctions run and what happens when you win.
Are bids binding?
Yes. Once placed, a bid is a binding offer to purchase at that price. Retracting a winning bid is a violation of marketplace policy.
What happens when I win an auction?
An escrow transaction is opened automatically. You’ll receive funding instructions from Escrow.com and the seller is notified to prepare the transfer.
Can sellers set a reserve price?
Yes. If the reserve isn’t met, the auction closes without a sale and no escrow is opened.
Disputes & compliance
When something goes wrong — and how it gets resolved.
What if the domain is not as described?
Open a dispute during the inspection period. Escrow.com mediates and, if warranted, the funds are returned to the buyer.
What if I suspect fraud?
Stop communication outside the platform and contact support@percentmatchauction.com. We can request identity verification and cancel policy-violating transactions.
Is the platform ICANN compliant?
Yes. All transfers follow ICANN policy and the procedures of the buyer’s and seller’s registrars.
Security
How to keep your account and your money safe.
Should I enable two-factor authentication?
Always. Enable 2FA on your Escrow.com account, and your Percent-match.com account or current registrar.
How do I verify a message is really from the platform?
Official messages come from @percentmatchauction.com addresses and appear in your account inbox. Didn’t receive the email? Please check your spam or junk folder. If you find it there open it and click not spam or report not spam to ensure future delivery. When in doubt, contact support directly.
